‘What is Flickr?‘ is a question I am often asked.

Well, what Flickr is is a photo-sharing community with the most extensive catalogue of high-quality photography imaginable.

Flickr hosts over 5 billion photos, the vast majority of which are very professional. A search on pretty much any word will generate pages and pages of excellant photographs from still life and the natural world to high-art and computer imagery.

Flickr’s interface is also pretty amazing. It allows users to organise photos by dragging them around onscreen, allows you to associate photos with a point on the globe (geotagging) and allows image-editing on-the-fly.
