Doctor Who Series 4 - Rose Tyler Appears In The Poison Sky!

Blink and you would’ve missed it, in fact I bet most people did miss it!

In last night’s episode of Doctor Who, ‘The Poison Sky‘, Rose Tyler’s face briefly appeared on the TARDIS’ communications screen for a brief moment before the Doctor’s transmission to the Sontaran spaceship replaced it.

Rose Tyler Appears In The Sontaran Stratagem

Rose appeared to be mouthing the word ‘Doctor’ - attempting to communicate from parallel Earth perhaps? Rose Tyler was stranded on parallel Earth in the closing moments of The Battle of Canary Wharf at the end of series 2. In episode one of Doctor Who series 4, ‘Partners In Crime‘ she is seen very briefly before fading away in nothingness.

The Doctor bid farewell to Rose on parallel Earth by projecting a hologram through a closing rift in time and space, but he had to burn up a star to generate enough energy. Perhaps Rose is attempting to contact the Doctor using a similar method, but without access to a big enough power source, she is obviously struggling.

Any ideas what on parallel Earth is going on?

I was wondering…what if in the parallel universe the time lords STILL exist. What if they won the time war and wiped out the daleks? What if the Doctor in the parallel universe are trying, via Rose, to communicate a means for ‘our’ Doctor to save the time lords in ‘our’ universe?

Imagine if there were a means, beyond the knowledge of the Doctor but NOT the entire race of time lords in the Parallel universe! What if it were possible for the doctor to return to the moment he had to close the time vortex (or whatever it was he HAD to do in order to save the universe), and save as many possibly fleeing time Galifreans? It would be cool if he needed either the help of Omega OR the combined power of 11 Tardis police boxes? The doctor could be told how to ‘call’ or ‘pull’ past doctors from their time lines in order to help, maybe in a semi automatic mode. Of course, the tenth Doctor would need to sacrifice himself in order to regenerate and provide the 11th Tardis…

    Just a thought mind…

Interesting storyline Andrew, but I really like the solitary nature of the Doctor, the fact that he is now the last of his race, I feel alot of his mystery would be lost if our universe were re-populated with Time Lords.

Yeah I was eating at the time and food almost fell out of my mouth in surprise.

    “Rhats Wose!” I mumbled.

Yes, it’s a good point about his solitary nature. In a way I still would find it cool if he could, through sacrifice of another life, rescue some time lords. And perhaps these time lords would found a new Galifrey, but this time become total recluses and offer the Doctor the choice of joining them, or forever remaining essentially an outcast, and eternal traveller. In this sense he really would be alone, unable to locate the remaining timelords. I like the idea of seeing the Doctor having to face numerous challenges and sacrifices in order to save even a few dozen Galifreans…

I think it’ll probably be some echo of the time when she looked into the Heart of the Tardis. She ’scattered’ Bad Wolf through space and time as a way back to the future. Maybe she did the same to get back to our universe (Thinks of the reference to ‘Bad Wolf Bay’ at the end of series 2).
