Here is the User Agent String for Apple’s 1st Generation iPhone (European Edition):
Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/1A543a Safari/419.3
Unsuprisingly the iPhone’s default browser is a flavour of Safari (built using WebKit), just like a regular Apple Mac. It uses flavour 419, very similar to Nokia’s N95 browser; flavour 413.
What is remarkable is that the iPhone’s operating system is (or at least say it is) a slim version of Mac OS X or compatible.
