I’m Learning To Play Fifa 10

I’m Learning To Play Fifa 10

I’ve never been into football games. Everyone I know has about 18 yrs experience of playing them and I’ve always thought that trying to learn and compete would be a waste of time.

But I watched enough hours of Fifa being played over the years to actually be incredibly impressed with the demo of Fifa 10.  DJ tells me that because many of the controls are different on Fifa 10 from previous versions, I would do well to begin learning to play now, when everyone else is having to learn a new control style too. I am an absolute Fifa novice.

I’m not a team player, My favourite game ever is Star Wars Battlefront in which my winning strategy is to break cover alone, charge across the battlefield like a mad-man, inflict massive damage, die and respawn. I button mash and throw everything I have at the enemy in an attempt to overwhelm them in the chaos.

But, Fifa really doesnt work like that. Fifa 10 in particular is highly realistic, so it feels slow to me. The guys are never where I expect them or need them to be and I also expect them to break formations rather than hold formations.

The controls also involve much greater delicacy. As a button-masher I will quadruple tap X in haste and impatience which causes the player to auto-pass the ball away stupidly to no-one. I’ll call that my itchy trigger-foot.

Here’s a great video which shows you exactly how to get the most out of the Practise Area on Fifa 10. I just thought the Fifa 10 Practise Arena was just something to do whilst you wait for the game to load.

I didn’t know the Fifa 10 Practise Arena had different modes to train in for an unlimited amount of time with variable number of players, I was just playing against the computer in quick matches for training. Now I know what it can do I’ll use Fifa 10′s Practise Arena.

I’ve only got a decade and half to catch up on, it’ll be easy! :P
