Reading Festival Video 2008 - butt scratcher

August 26th, 2008

It took me 3 hours to make and upload this video of the amazing time I had at Reading Festival 2008 and it was good; until YouTube mangled the fuck out of it and made it all blurry. A shame, cos I had some really good footage of the HADOUKEN!, Black Tide and Bring Me The Horizon pits.

Bring Me The Horizon did brilliantly for a band who were booked last minute to replace SlipKnot, Black Tide were incredible and HADOUKEN!, well… HADOUKEN! ruled!

The phrase butt scratcher was endlessly bounced around Reading Festival 2008. This is reference to Family Guy’s 5th season episode ‘No Chris Left Behind‘ in which Peter takes on a second job selling butt scratchers at baseball games.

Butt Scratcher!

I reckon this year’s Reading Festival is going to absolutely rule!

The line up is devastatingly heavy with some good mainstream acts as well; not that they interest me too much.

My must see bands at Reading Festival 2008 are:
SlipKnot, Rage, Lethal Bizzle, Black Tide, Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Gallows, Dizzee Rascal, Pendulum, Biffy Clyro, Flogging Molly and Thrice.

This line up listing below was pulled directly from Wikipedia so I assume its accurate; but I make not guarantees. All links go to Wikipedia.

Here’s the line up for Reading Festival 2008.

Family Guy - Something, Something, Something, Dark Side

August 14th, 2008

I was excited to discover that the final episode of Family Guy Season 7 will be a 1hr long sequel to the Season 6 Star Wars episode Family Guy: Blue Harvest.

The episode will be titled Something, Something, Something, Dark Side.

Basically Something, Something, Something, Dark Side will be a parody of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

Awesome!

Origins
The title came from a cut-away scene in Family Guy’s season 5 episode, Barely Legal. When The Emperor discovered the formula for perfect Star Wars dialogue:

“Something, something, something dark side.
Something, something, something complete.”

Production
Season 7 of Family Guy will air in the US on the FOX Network on September 28, 2008. Something, Something, Something, Dark Side will be episodes 21 and 22. So, presumably Something, Something, Something, Dark Side will air 21 weeks later on Feb 22nd.

It’s rumoured that Something, Something, Something, Dark Side will air with little or no commercial interruption, presumably lasting a full hour. There has been speculation that Something, Something, Something, Dark Side may be released on DVD just before the TV premiere.

Family Guy and Star Wars

With Seth MacFarlane and many of the other Family Guy writers being Star Wars fans, I have always felt that a sequel to Family Guy: Blue Harvest was inevitable. In an interview with StarWars.com Family Guy Creator Seth MacFaralane said:

“The great thing about Lucasfilm is that they allow people like us to embrace that fandom and have some fun.

The only reason we were able to do ‘Family Guy: Blue Harvest’ is because we have so many writers who know the [Star Wars] films so well they can recite it from start to finish. It’s something that never really leaves people’s heads.”

Hopefully Something, Something, Something, Dark Side will also be officially endorsed by Lucasfilm; George Lucas is a huge fan of Family Guy.

Mort Goldman will appear in Something, Something, Something, Dark Side as Lando Calrissian, I’ve also heard that the Giant Chicken, Peter’s arch-nemesis, will appear as Boba-Fett.

Family Guy: Something, Something, Something, Dark Side
To be honest as a huge Family Guy fan and a huge Star Wars fan (whose favourite film is still Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back); I’m really excited about this!

What are your comments about Something, Something, Something, Dark Side?

Halifax Guy ‘Howard Brown’ Sacked At Last!

August 8th, 2008

Howard Brown aka 'Halifax guy' has finally been sacked! Finally something good has come of the Credit-Crunch.

The annoying, singing, grinning, bespectacled ‘Halifax guy‘ aka Howard Brown has been sacked!

Fired, sacked, let go, dropped, whatever you want to call it. But sacked is my personal favourite.

He was sacked from the adverts because:

…his cheeky-chappy demeanor was deemed unsuitable for the current economic climate.

Known to most simpy as ‘the Halifax guy’, Howard Brown shot to fame in 2000 when Halifax initiated a new marketing drive involving Halifax staff members singing pop tracks.

Since then ‘the Halifax guy’, Howard Brown has somehow become a star in his own right, reaching #13 in the UK pop charts in 2005 and appearing in The Office Christmas Special 2003.

I have long despised this infuriating and insufferable man. So, I rejoice at the departure of Howard ‘the Halifax guy’ Brown from our screens.

Your thoughts?
