Reading Festival Video 2008 - butt scratcher

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

It took me 3 hours to make and upload this video of the amazing time I had at Reading Festival 2008 and it was good; until YouTube mangled the fuck out of it and made it all blurry. A shame, cos I had some really good footage of the HADOUKEN!, Black Tide and Bring Me The Horizon pits.

Bring Me The Horizon did brilliantly for a band who were booked last minute to replace SlipKnot, Black Tide were incredible and HADOUKEN!, well… HADOUKEN! ruled!

The phrase butt scratcher was endlessly bounced around Reading Festival 2008. This is reference to Family Guy’s 5th season episode ‘No Chris Left Behind‘ in which Peter takes on a second job selling butt scratchers at baseball games.

Reading Festival 2008 Line Up

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

I reckon this year’s Reading Festival is going to absolutely rule!

The line up is devastatingly heavy with some good mainstream acts as well; not that they interest me too much.

My must see bands at Reading Festival 2008 are:
SlipKnot, Rage, Lethal Bizzle, Black Tide, Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Gallows, Dizzee Rascal, Pendulum, Biffy Clyro, Flogging Molly and Thrice.

This line up listing below was pulled directly from Wikipedia so I assume its accurate; but I make not guarantees. All links go to Wikipedia.

Here’s the line up for Reading Festival 2008.

Reading Festival - Main Stage Line Up

Reading Festival - Radio 1/NME Stage Line Up

Halifax Guy ‘Howard Brown’ Sacked At Last!

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Howard Brown aka 'Halifax guy' has finally been sacked! Finally something good has come of the Credit-Crunch.

The annoying, singing, grinning, bespectacled ‘Halifax guy‘ aka Howard Brown has been sacked!

Fired, sacked, let go, dropped, whatever you want to call it. But sacked is my personal favourite.

He was sacked from the adverts because:

…his cheeky-chappy demeanor was deemed unsuitable for the current economic climate.

Known to most simpy as ‘the Halifax guy’, Howard Brown shot to fame in 2000 when Halifax initiated a new marketing drive involving Halifax staff members singing pop tracks.

Since then ‘the Halifax guy’, Howard Brown has somehow become a star in his own right, reaching #13 in the UK pop charts in 2005 and appearing in The Office Christmas Special 2003.

I have long despised this infuriating and insufferable man. So, I rejoice at the departure of Howard ‘the Halifax guy’ Brown from our screens.

Pendulum @ Koko - 28th July 2008

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Another amazing freebie courtesy of Mish; tonight I saw InMe and Pendulum at Koko; part of the iTunes festival.

I havent heard the name InMe for years, they got big around 2002 but after that I had just assumed they’d fizzled out; I was never a fan at all. But tonight InMe were tight, they had passion and they were great to watch. InMe really impressed me.

The crowd at the Koko was alot older this time and as such it wasnt too hard to get a good mosh-pit going from the outset.

However, the crowning glory was seeing Pendulum. I’ve previously been told that Pendulum often play live with simply the DJ, tonight however the entire bad were there and they put on a fantastic show. I heard a few minor errors from time to time, but generally very tight and the light show was wicked.

Once again I took on the role of Mosh-Pit General and kicked off proceedings, with some excellant guys and girls in the pit, we had a great time. Somehow we managed to organise a Girls Only Mosh-Pit during Pendulum, the perimeter of which was maintained by a ring of guys drooling over the sight of a dozen girls fighting with each other. Genius.

I don’t know any of these people, but they are all legends.
