I’ve recently decided to get into cooking as I have a kitchen I barely use except for cooking frozen vegetables and of course smiley faces. Smiley faces rule.
So me being me , I picked a relatively hard dish that I have never eaten. So not only do I not really know how to cook, I don’t actually know what it should taste like either.
Anyway I used a Gordon Ramsay recipe for Beef Wellington from the Channel 4 F Word microsite. From his description it sounded very much like rolling sushi, which I’ve seen done a million times whilst drooling at Yo! Sushi. And I’ve had some other experience with rolling.
Anyway, my Beef Wellington turned out rather like a Calzone with a steak in it. Still very tasty but I think I need to cut the fillets to a better shape and refridgerate the roll so I wrap it tighter in the pastry.
The sautéed potatoes were tasty but I should have cut them thinner. I had to look up precisely what par boiling meant.
This was quite an expensive meal though, I think it was probably £12 for myself and Kelly, but I suppose I would definately have paid £6 for that in a pub or restaurant, so fair enough.
Beef Wellington a la Filth
PS.
BEEF!
Well at least you had the balls to try something new.
Yeah it was fun! Will definately have to do again cos I totally see where I went wrong.
I think either steak or a rustic, interestingly shaped pizza will be next.
Hey, looks not so bad! You’re very severe with yourself. If my guy tried something new (relativ to the kitchen
), I’d think something’s wrong…
