About Leyton Jay

I’m a 25yr old Web Developer from Crawley, West Sussex, UK. I’m a music lover, festival-goer, party-animal, sci-fi and comedy fan, blagger and über-geek.

People often mis-spell my first-name as Layton; even when I tell them how to spell it. This is a constant source of annoyance.

I’m known to my friends as ‘Filth’ - it was my DJ name & a legacy from my previous friendship group.

Web Development

I have a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Westminster & I’ve been interested in Web Design and Development for around 5 years.

Master CiW DesignerI am a fully qualified CiW Master Designer; I specialise in writting standards-compliant, accessible XHTML and high-quality, cross-browser CSS.

I have a good knowledge of PHP and MySQL having worked with LAMP web environments for over 4 years now.

I have some experience with writing WML and XHTML/CSS for mobile devices. I have a keen interest in Search Engine Optimisation; ranging from keyword analyis and sitemapping to robot/crawler tracking.

Almost a year ago I began working in the industry as a Developer for Rentokil Initial Plc who create some of the most accessible and standards compliant websites out of all the companies/groups in FTSE100.

Promotion

I spent several years promoting an alternative nightclub event called FMRv2 (2002-2004) run by my friend, DJ Peet.

For a time it was very successful; attendance peaked at 550 people for the 2004 Xmas Bikini Party.

On that cold Christmas night as I was surrounded by hundreds of hot teenage girls moshing in bikinis, I realised the whole thing had reached a peak and jumped ship before the inevitable decline.

It was fun for a time. I got some fame and some sex, but it was alot of effort and there was no profit despite what people thought. I outgrew and now really dislike the vast majority of the Crawley client-base. But I’m still proud to say I was involved with it.

More soon…….
